Chris Clavelli

is the Associate Artistic Director of The Florida Repertory Theatre where he has directed over 20 productions including, most recently, The Cocktail Hour of which Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal wrote:

Mr.Clavelli’s production is the most satisfying staging of The Cocktail Hour I’ve ever seen.

Representative Florida Rep productions: Sideman, Tribes, Time Stands Still, Collected Stories, Santaland Diaries, Lend Me a Tenor, Trying, My Three Angels, Rounding Third and The Mystery of Irma Vep.

Other directing credits: The Virginia Stage Company, Two River Theatre, The NY Fringe Festival, The Riverside Theatre, The Greenbrier Valley Theatre The Depot Theatre, The Chenango River Theatre, The TRIAD, 78th Street Theatre, Symphony Space, Off Square Theatre Company, The University of South Carolina Graduate Program, Fairleigh Dickinson University, AMDA, The South West Symphony, The Cell, and The Neighborhood Theatre for Kids. He was honored with an Alan Schnieder Directing Award nomination through Theater Communications Group in 2010. In 2013, he was awarded The, Best Director for Time Stands Still at The Florida Repertory Theatre. In 2004, he co-founded Brave New World Theatre in Brooklyn.

As an actor, Chris has worked Off-Broadway,regionally and on several Episodic TV productions, commercials and voice-overs. He is the recipient of The Barrymore Award as well at The Carbonell for Best Actor. His one man show; A Little More Than You Wanted to Spend, had a NY run at The Drilling Company in New York as well as The Bricolage / Pittsburgh, The Youngstown Playhouse, The Florida Repertory Theatre, The Depot Theatre, The Chenango River Theatre and Theatre South Carolina. He teaches classical acting at Pace University/ The Actors Studio Drama School, MFA Program and serves on the faculty of The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
